Anders Hagberg

“Anders Hagberg creates a unique world of sound. From quiet wonder to expressive, explosive exuberance.”

Throughout his musical career, Anders Hagberg has distinguished himself as an innovative and virtuosic improviser on the flute in genres such as jazz and world music.

On his newest album, TRUST, he takes his creative approach to the flute to a new level with cinematic sounds, solitary melodies, and evocative grooves. Improvisation and boundary-crossing collaborations are distinguishing features of his work and for TRUST the music was originally created in interaction with visual artforms such as dance, pictures, video, and sculpture.
Anders has toured globally with his own bands and as a soloist with the ensembles Yggdrasil and Mynta as well as with such musicians as Marilyn Mazur and John Tchicai. He has collaborated with artists from i.e. India, Japan, Brazil, West Africa, The Middle East and the United States. He has composed music for film and dance and has released many albums under his own name that have garnered Swedish Grammy nominations and other distinctions.
As a Professor of Musical Performance, Improvisation at the University of Gothenburg, Academy of Music & Drama Anders is working with teaching, artistic research and as a supervisor.
